Pure Orthodox Incense
Traditional Greek incense, Athonite-style blends, sacred antimensia, liturgical embroidery, and vestments — crafted in our Greek monastery to sustain a community rebuilt from the ashes.

Byproducts, Solvents, and Fillers—What’s Really Inside Your Incense?
Have you bought traditional Orthodox incense, or a cheap concoction of agricultural byproducts, industrial chemical solvents, and cosmetic fillers? Many mass-market incense manufacturers pack their products with cheap, irritating substitutes to cut costs—counting on you to not recognize the difference between real Greek incense and chemical zombie incense.
The Three Horrors of Zombie Incense

All Bark, No Bite
Pure frankincense melts cleanly, but wood burns. To cut corners, budget mass-producers buy the lowest grade of frankincense available—floor sweepings and violent trunk-scrapings heavily mixed with tree bark and woody debris. When these cheap byproducts hit a hot charcoal, they don’t cleanly vaporize. They burn, char, and scorch, producing an acrid, campfire-like smoke that stings the eyes, irritates the throat, and completely chokes out the delicate fragrance oils.

Grease Is the Way We Are Feeling
Pure fragrance essences are costly, so budget manufacturers heavily dilute their oils with cheap petrochemical solvents to stretch their profits. Instead of melting and vaporizing cleanly, the excess synthetic solvents drown the incense. When such an incense piece hits the charcoal, it sputters and scorches exactly like a cheap cooking oil smoking on a bad frying pan. This dirty, incomplete burn creates an oily aroma and releases harsh, throat-choking aldehyde byproducts like formaldehyde.

Talc is Cheap
Rather than using a safe parting agent like genuine magnesia powder to keep their incense pieces from clumping together, many industrial-scale commercial workshops use cheap talcum powder. The talc acts as an industrial lubricant, stopping their high-volume mechanical cutting machinery from “gunking up.” But the industrial talc smothers the essential oils, distorts the fragrance, and introduces unnecessary risks of lung irritation and dangerous heavy-metal contaminants.
The Monastery Orthodox Incense Purity Guarantee
Incense should be pure. That’s why we guarantee that you will never receive incense from our workshop which contains woody harvest scrapings, added industrial solvents, or talc. Every single grain we make is made from three unadulterated ingredients:

Top-Graded Ethiopian Frankincense
Hand-sorted, pristine Boswellia papyrifera frankincense that melts cleanly on your charcoal, releasing a sweet, majestic, fruit-and-cedar aroma that doesn’t pollute your airways.

Undiluted Swiss Aromatic Essences
The only essences we use in our workshop. In master perfumery, Switzerland is the absolute pinnacle of molecular precision and strict purity standards. If it isn’t distilled in Switzerland, we don’t work with it, and we refuse to add aftermarket fillers and cheap extenders to our Swiss essential oils.

Pure Magnesia Powder
The traditional, premium choice in Greece. An odorless mineral coating that keeps the fragrance inside our incense pieces during storage and leaves behind nothing but a harmless, scentless white ash when burned.

A Greek Orthodox Monastery Rebuilt from the Ashes
In 1999, our monastery was destroyed by an earthquake. For three years, our brotherhood lived in a one-bedroom apartment, crafting the incense and liturgical goods you see today to fund our future. Through God’s grace, we rebuilt our home on sacred Byzantine grounds. Every item we offer is a fruit of that journey — sustaining our community and preserving the traditions of our Faith.
