Lighting a candle is one of the simplest and most profound acts of Orthodox piety. The wax represents our pure heart, the wick our soul, and the flame our love for God. Even from afar, you can have a candle lit in the chapel of our monastery, serving as a silent, burning witness of your faith.
Crafted by the Brotherhood
The candles we offer are special. They are not mass-produced in a factory.
Watch the Process: We feed soft, warm beeswax into the chamber and hand-wind the press. The wick is fed automatically into the core as the monks manually pull and cut the extruded candle rope.
In our monastery workshop, we craft them ourselves using a hand-turned press. We soften the pure beeswax until the workshop fills with the scent of warm honey. Then, with prayer and physical effort, we manually wind the wheel to form each candle, cutting them by hand.
When you make this offering, you are lighting a product of the monks’ own labor—a sacrifice of work offered back to God on your behalf.
A Note on Our Workshop:
Because our candles are made in small batches, they are highly sought after by our local parishioners and often sell out quickly (especially during Great Lent and Pascha).
We prioritize using our brotherhood’s candles for these online offerings. However, if our workshop stock is momentarily depleted, we will substitute with a pure beeswax candle of equal size and quality sourced from our Cathedral or a sister monastery. This ensures your prayer is offered without delay.
Choosing Your Candle Size
We offer four distinct sizes.
Note: Because every candle is cut by hand, lengths are approximate. Each candle is unique.
- Simple Taper (~8″ / 20cm): A delicate, thin candle. Perfect for a simple, heartfelt prayer or daily offering.
- Vigil Taper (~10.5″ / 27cm): A taller, slightly thicker candle. A classic size for the candle stand.
- Festive Taper (~14.5″ / 37cm): A substantial candle. Tall and elegant, this candle offers a bright, steady flame.
- Pillar Candle (~14″ / 35cm, Thick Width): Our thickest candle. This substantial beeswax pillar produces a large flame and burns for hours. It is an offering of significant weight and beauty.
