Description
May you be blessed with our Athonite Holy Cross Incense, a gift from our monastery which has been lovingly created by the monks of the Sacred Monastery of St. John of the Ladder. Nestled in the historic region of Boetia, Greece, our monastery stands on the hallowed grounds of the ancient Byzantine Monastery of the Archangels, a site steeped in spiritual history.
Crafted with Devotion and Tradition
Our incense is all handcrafted, and honors centuries-old Athonite traditions:
- We begin with pure Ethiopian frankincense, ground to a fine powder.
- The powder is then saturated with a signature mixture of high quality, aromatic oils.
- Skilled monks knead the mixture by hand until it reaches the perfect consistency.
- The incense is then carefully rolled, dusted with magnesia, and cut into small pieces.
- Finally, the incense is cured for a minimum of 30 days, allowing the rich aromas to fully mature and develop.
The result is a sublime incense suitable for Orthodox worship, whether in church or at home.
In Honor of the Holy Cross of our Lord
Our Athonite Holy Cross Incense features a secret and signature mix of essential oils carefully selected by the brothers of the Sacred Monastery of St. John of the Ladder to honor the Precious and Life-giving Cross of our Lord, and God, and Saviour Jesus Christ. This is a signature incense only produced by our monastery that:
- Inspires us to carry our own cross in this life and glorify the Lord, unworthy as we may be to do so
- Aids in creating a prayerful atmosphere
- Fills your church or home with a somber and compunctionate fragrance
