The Witness of the Four Evangelists

This reverent, monochrome Antimension presents a classic depiction of the Epitaphios—the body of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ laid in the tomb. The central icon is framed by a dignified floral border, and in the four corners stand the Holy Evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Their presence serves as a theological seal, testifying to the truth of the Passion and Resurrection depicted in the center. The design features Romanian script.

Remastered & Prepared by Monks

At the Sacred Monastery of St. John of the Ladder in Boetia, Greece, we have carefully remastered this design from an authentic prototype to ensure clarity and detail while preserving its original iconographic intent. Each cloth is printed on high-quality fabric that is smooth, durable, and suitable for liturgical use.

Custom Backing Options

We offer this Antimension in two formats to suit the specific needs of your altar:

• With Red Backing: Our brotherhood will hand-sew a traditional red iliton backing onto the Antimension in our workshop, ensuring a secure and professional finish ready for use.
• Without Backing (Cloth Only): This option includes a generous white border, allowing you to sew your own backing. This is highly recommended if the Antimension is intended for the Consecration of a Temple, where the potential for color run from essential oils and holy chrism is a concern.
