Description
The Unsleeping Eye
In the monastery, the prayer never truly ceases. Day and night, the vigil lamps (kandilia) burn—a silent, flickering witness to the presence of God.
In the Orthodox tradition, oil symbolizes God’s mercy (eleos), and the light represents our burning love for Christ. To keep these lamps burning requires a constant supply of pure olive oil.
Become the Fuel for Our Prayer
By offering oil, you are helping to sustain the liturgical life of the monastery. Your gift becomes the fuel that lights the faces of the saints and allows the brotherhood to continue its work of prayer.
Why Make This Offering?
- For Intercession: As the oil is consumed by the flame, let it be an offering for the health and salvation of your loved ones.
- For Mercy: Offering oil is a traditional act of almsgiving, calling down God’s mercy upon the giver.
- For Sustenance: Your offering covers the cost of the pure olive oil used daily in our church.
How It Works
- Select Duration: Choose to sponsor the oil supply for a single day, a week, or a longer period.
- Submit Names: In the “Names for Offering” box, list the first names of yourself and any loved ones for whom you are making this offering.
- We Tend the Flame: The brotherhood will use your offering to fill the lamps.
